As you can imagine, Thursday night football is a huge deal in the NFL. It’s a time when the biggest teams in the game come together to battle it out.
That’s why Amazon Prime Video teamed up with the NFL to become the new home of Thursday Night Football. It’s the first time a streaming service has a season-long exclusive broadcast package with the NFL.
Amazon Prime Video
If you’re a football fan, you probably enjoy watching Thursday night games on your TV. Luckily, that doesn’t have to be your only source of NFL action, because the league has made it easy for fans to watch live games on all kinds of devices, from game consoles to tablets and mobile phones.
One of the newest ways to catch a Thursday night game is on Amazon Prime Video, which offers an incredibly convenient way for football fans to watch. The service offers the full slate of Thursday games every season, and a handful of preseason games as well.
The service also offers a number of other features, including Alexa integration and an X-Ray feature that allows users to check out real-time stats, enhanced replays, player analysis and polling. X-Ray is available on Amazon Fire TV and Android devices.
You can also use a VPN to watch Amazon Prime Video on your device, which will prevent any governmental entities from seeing your IP address and preventing you from streaming content. A sports streaming VPN is essential for anyone who wants to watch the NFL without getting caught.
For the 2022-2023 season, Prime Video will be the exclusive home for most NFL Thursday night games, a change from the league’s previous agreement with Fox and the NFL Network. As part of this new deal, Amazon is paying the NFL a $13 billion fee over the next 11 years.
YouTube TV
If you’re a fan of American football and want to watch Thursday night games, you can now do so on YouTube TV, the Google-owned streaming service. YouTube TV is available on a variety of devices including smartphones, computers and TV sets running the Android TV operating system.
The service starts at $65 a month for a basic package that includes local channels in most markets. The company also offers add-ons that add premium networks, including NFL RedZone and NBA League Pass.
You can watch YouTube TV on most modern TV sets that support the service. This includes those from LG, Samsung, Vizio, Sharp and Hisense.
Those with older TVs will need to find a different source. Most services offer a “Cloud DVR” feature that allows you to record shows or movies and watch them later.
In addition to live channels, YouTube TV also has a selection of on-demand movies and TV series. You can also watch YouTube’s own original programming, which includes a series about football called The NFL Experience.
Another big advantage of YouTube TV is its 60 frame per second (FPS) frame rate, which is the standard in most streaming services and helps ensure that sports will look great. This is especially important when watching live games, where fewer frames would cause games to appear more choppy than they should be.
With the Sunday Ticket deal, YouTube is trying to make itself more of a TV destination for fans who don’t want to pay for cable. This is a smart move for Google, which has a strong base of subscribers but struggled to grow its advertising revenue due to declining demand for online video.
Apple TV 4K
If you’re looking for a way to watch Thursday night football this season without cable, there are plenty of options. One of the most popular is Amazon Prime Video, which offers access to thousands of TV shows and movies for a low monthly fee.
But you don’t need to subscribe to Prime to watch Thursday night games, as they’re also available on Fox and NFL Network. In fact, you can even watch them on your phone or tablet via the NFL’s new NFL Plus app for $5 a month or $40 a season.
You can also watch them in 4k with a 4k TV and the Fox Sports app, though you’ll need to have a decent internet connection to do so. And if you’re a fan of 4k, there are other ways to get your favorite game in higher resolution than the standard 1080p, including through services like Roku and Comcast Xfinity TV.
When it comes to set up, Apple has two methods to choose from: you can use the slick, easy-to-use Siri Remote to drag over everything or you can manually enter your home Wi-Fi network, iTunes account, and iCloud account information one by one. It’s best to use the Siri Remote, as it makes the whole process much faster and easier.
Another useful feature is the Top Shelf, which lets you select up to six apps to reside on the top row of your Apple TV home screen. When selected, these apps will display extra preview content on top of their normal screens (as seen in the image below).
Dish Network
Thursday night football is back, and this season features some more interesting matchups than in years past. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the game or just want to catch some of the action, there are plenty of ways to watch thirsday night football without having to pay for cable or satellite TV.
If you’re a Prime member, you can stream all the games live on Amazon’s website. To do so, simply open the Prime Video app and click on “Thursday Night Football.”
The official broadcast of TNF begins at 7 p.m. EDT, with kickoff at 8:15 p.m.
Throughout the game, you’ll hear commentary from Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit. The broadcast also features a special “Prime Vision with Next Gen Stats” section, which offers more detailed statistics on every play.
To make sure you don’t miss any of the action, you can also watch the game with a DVR. The NFL Network channel is 154 on Dish, and you can record any of the games that interest you to watch later.
